Hermetic traditions are associated with writings attributed to Hermes Trismegistus. A beginner benefits from reading a reputable translation with historical notes before relying on modern summaries.

Keep eras separate

Ancient Hermetic texts, Renaissance Hermeticism and modern occult or New Age interpretations are related but not identical. Later writers often reinterpret earlier material for new purposes.

Where modern synthesis fits

Contemporary esoteric authors may connect Hermetic ideas with Kabbalah, alchemy, symbolism, manifestation or consciousness. Treat those connections as an author's framework unless historical evidence supports a direct lineage.
